This series sprang forth from some discarded 1960’s and 70’s geology textbooks I snagged from the local community college library discards. I was captivated by the wild natural textures contained in such neat little rectangles set against the whiteness of the page. Colorless little worlds. I cut them from their context so the textures could live without being an example or illustration of something. They reminded me of the time before I could read, when I would imagine stories for the pictures in books. The unknowing was a space to play in, an empty backyard.
